Speaking to Debbie Dickson, one of the senior educators and clinicians with DMK and Regul8. She explains during the cleanse she explained that we need to do this regularly because “if the garden (your gastrointestinal system) becomes overgrown with weeds, snails, and other unbeneficial bugs (bad bacteria) – it will not matter what seeds, flowers, or veggies, are planted (probiotic), they simply will not grow, as the weeds (bad bacteria), rob them of the nutrients essential to their survival.”

The most interesting part of this cleanse I’ve found is Debbie’s recommendation to ensure we do one every three-four months, which to me makes sense. For the first cleanse a person should take one to two courses consecutively or sometimes three for more severe health and skin conditions,” Debbie advises.

"They should then continue with Maintain and Relax before taking another full course of Regul8 every three to four months.”

Although honestly, even with one course of treatment I noticed quite big differences including the ability to eat without getting bloated, staying regular, sleeping better (helloooo ‘RELAX’ – such a good supplement!) and generally just having a happier belly.

The fact that all of the ingredients in the cleanse were herbal based and no synthetics were included at any point – which was a major priority of mine.

In fact, the ingredients in each of the capsules are gluten-free, did not require refrigeration and the probiotic element was microencapsulated. (Which meant that the probiotics were each covered with small a microscopic coating that basically protects them from being affected by the passage through the gastrointestinal tract – ensuring maximum survival rate of live cultures to the target area of the lower intestine.)

“This is a unique patented technology that has never been used in Australia before,” Debbie tells us. We don’t think I know of any other gut cleanse of this level on the market here in Australia.

Anyway, because I also know that people who are interested in detoxification and gut health would be super keen on learning a little more about the ingredients and benefits used in each capsule, I have also outlined some of the main ones below.

Barberry, Chinese Wormwood, Gentian, Pau D’Arco

Liquorice, Slippery Elm, CoQ10, Zinc

Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, Mekabu

Pretty groovy huh. Anyway I hope that the Regul8 cleanse and how it works is getting a little clearer for you all now.

To make things easier for day to day I think from memory you just take one of the ‘cleanse, restore and maintain’ capsules three times a day, and one of the ‘relax’ capsules twice a day until you’re done.

So if you’re looking to invest in something for your gut, I really do think this three step system is a really great choice.

Plus, if you have constant skin issues, have tried a gazillion and one things, then perhaps stripping it right back and focusing on your gut health might be key.

You see, if you have a skin problem, you have a gut problem and the digestive system is the CORE of overall health and wellbeing (with the gut, skin-brain axis being at its core.)

“From linking parts of our nervous system right through to the connection of emotional, cognitive, and intestinal functions, the gut brain axis, and within that – the health of microbiota can have direct impacts on your body, your skin and your mood,”

“Healthy gut flora optimises our digestive system providing a variety of functions including; nutrient absorption and assimilation of vitamins and minerals which is important to feeding the skin, hormonal signaling and breaking down and rebuilding hormones, helping to create collagen and prevent breakouts/acne, and decreasing inflammation which causes reactive skin conditions.”

Skin conditions that may improve on the cleanse include: acne, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, bruising, Skin rashes and dull skin generally!

So there you have it. Gut health is of the utmost importance.

In fact, Hipprocrates said it best over 2,000 years ago that good health begins in the gut,

and now there is increasing research to support how important digestive health is to our overall wellbeing.

“Healthy gut flora optimises our digestive system providing a variety of functions including; nutrient absorption and assimilation of vitamins and minerals, hormonal signalling and breaking down and rebuilding hormones, helping to prevent colds, flus, yeast infections and decreasing inflammation.”

“Many people do not realise that up to 70% of the body’s immune system is produced in your digestive system and it is often referred to as the body’s second brain. Also, important hormones like serotonin (your feel-good hormone) and melatonin (your sleep hormone) are generated in the digestive system that all have a knock-on influence on the rest of the body when they become imbalanced,”

To conclude

Debbie tells us during her information session that if you have any of the following signs of poor gut health such as: bloating, flatulence, insomnia, constipation and or diarrhoea, weight gain, leaky gut syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, acne, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, bruising, skin rashes or dull skin.

Then trying Regul8’s Digestive Tune Up gut cleanse might be for you.

Tell me, what do you do at the moment to improve your gut health?
