Cleansing tips at home!
Cleansing seems simple, but are you doing it right? Follow these tips and tricks to ensure you are getting the most out of your cleanser!
Cleanse twice a day! Morning - especially if you are a morning gym person! Make sure to remove any dirt + sweat from the skin. Nightly - removing the days make up and grim that find’s it’s way on the skin. It’s good idea to do a second cleanse at night to ensure you sleep with no make up at all on your skin!
Ensure you are using a cleanser that won’t dry your skin, many foaming cleansers on the market are filled with sulphates that will strip your natural lipids, this will usually occur on the cheeks and sides of face and leave your skin wanting to produce more oil on the T-zone (forehead, nose + chin)
Cleanse in a circular motion, following the direction of the lymph flow, this is up and out to the ears.
Don’t forget to take your cleanser down to your neck and dècolletage! Make up and sweat will find its way there.
Use a clean face cloth or disposable face cloths to ensure you are not putting bacteria back into your freshly cleansed skin.
Remove your cleanser effectively. Having cleanser left on the skin can cause clogging in the pores. If you are using a cleanser with active ingredients, the skin can react to the ingredients if left on for too long.
Use warm water to wash your face with, using hot water will increase sensitivity of the skin and affect the barrier function.
HYDRATE! Finish your cleanse routine with a moisturiser, no matter your skin type, every skin needs to hydrate!
