Acne Reduction

Incredible skin transformations are the result of expert advice and support.

What is pigmentation?

Pigmentation is the result of the skin’s defensive mechanisms being wrongly triggered.

The melanin cells that generate pigment are a defensive mechanism created by the body to protect the DNA strands within a cell from ultraviolet radiation (UVR).  However, when the skin’s and body’s systems are dysfunctional any form of trauma can stimulate melanin production.

There are two forms of pigmentation, ‘passive’ and ‘inflammatory’.

What causes pigmentation?

Hormonal imbalances like those experienced during pregnancy or caused by medications are the main contributors to passive pigmentation.

Stress and anxiety induced inflammation can also cause pigmentation to appear on the skin.

Post-inflamed Hyper-pigmentation (PIH) is what occurs when the skin experiences physical trauma such as a wound, acne, sun exposure or even constant friction. It may not become visible immediately in some cases.

Years of sun exposure without any visible signs of damage can suddenly appear in the form of age spots, usually on the hands, arms, neck and face. This hidden pigmentation can form from as early as fifteen years of age.

How to treat pigmentation

Successful pigmentation revision requires a treatment program and consistent use of Home Prescriptive products. There is no magic cure in the revision of pigmentation and prevention is always easier than revision.

As the melanosomes can be spread through all three layers of the skin as deep as the hyperdermis, it can extremely difficult even with transdermal delivery systems and laser treatments to penetrate far enough to revise the pigmentation.

DMK Remodelling peels are the most effective way to revise pigmentation working to draw the melanosomes up, out and off the new skin forming underneath. It requires a holistic approach to skin revision treatments that look at hormone levels and the dysfunction within the skin.

With the help of one of Quay Day Spa & Aesthetics advanced Skin Technicians, pigmentation can be revised, managed, and prevented.

Our customised whole person approach takes into account that skin types, and skin sensitivity are different for each and every person. Our team of skin care experts can help you manage your skin and figure out the right skin care routine to get lasting results for you.

Our experienced team of skin therapists specialise in results driven advanced DMK treatments, peels and home care prescriptions.

However your individualised treatment plan may include a range of advanced paramedical technologies that are proven effective in the treatment of acne including following:

DMK Acne Program

Your customised DMK Acne Program will work to regulate and enhance the functions and structures of the skin.  In clinic treatments work alongside your home prescriptive program to oxygenate, strengthen, nourish and renew the skin to achieve long-term skin results.

Dermapen Microneedling

Dermapen Microneedling regenerates the skin by stimulating the production and distribution of collagen and triggering the body’s natural wound healing response. Improves the appearance of acne breakouts, black/whiteheads and reduced scarring.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

IPL photo rejuvenation is fantastic for treating and removing acne-causing bacteria.

It is much gentler than chemical peels and layers really well with blue light LED therapy.

LED Light Therapy

Blue light LED therapy targets sebaceous glands to make them less active and decrease acne breakouts.

Blue light can also kill acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin, which helps to treat severe acne pimples, including cysts and nodules.

Hydrodermabrasion

Hydrodermabrasion uses water jets to break up the outer layer of skin revealing a smoother, more even textured skin. It is perfect to exfoliate sensitive skin and helps clear congestion and blemishes.  It can help make oily skin less greasy, shrink pores and reduce mild acne scars.

DMK Advanced Peels

Peel away the old skin and restructure the new skin from deep within.   DMK advanced peels are designed to remodel the architecture of the skin and revise dysfunctional processes to return the skin to its original functioning condition.

Ideal for skin affected by acne and scarring.

BEFORE AND AFTER DMK ACNE CLINICAL TREATMENT PROGRAM COMBINED WITH AT HOME CARE

1/1

Medical Consultation

If your acne treatments needs are more complex and you need to see a Medical Practitioner regarding your skin condition, our Nurse Practitioner can assess your health from a medical perspective and assist in managing your internal health, nutritional balance and hormonal health.

What is acne?

Acne is a chronic, inflammatory skin disorder involving the oil glands at the base of hair follicles. It can develop as clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, oily skin, blemishes, or cystic acne, and can leave scars.

Who is affected by acne and at what age?

Acne can affect anyone, at any stage of their life. In fact, around 80% of people world-wide have acne at some stage in their life!

What is different about Quay Day Spa's approach to treating acne?

A lot! Quay Day Spa takes into account everything about you including internal health and potential imbalances including nutrition and hormones. Products alone will not solve your acne problem. We use a combination of Medical and Paramedical Aesthetics services and home care prescriptions to treat your skin concerns from the inside to the outside of your body.

What is DMK's approach to treating acne?

DMK's focus is improving the long-term health of the skin, not on quick fixes. The skin chemistry is an ecosystem and functions similarly to a factory, the product that that factory produces is what you see on the skin's surface.

The DMK concept REMOVE, REBUILD, PROTECT and MAINTAIN works to regulate and enhance the internal functions and structures of the skin to maximum capacity.

DMK is the sole company to use transfer messenger enzymes in the signature DMK Enzyme Therapy, which is used as the base of all DMK treatments to oxygenate, strengthen, nourish and tone the skin. To encourage the skin to perform like younger, healthier skin DMK's signature Enzyme Therapy works alongside DMK skin protocols and Home Prescriptive programs to achieve long-term results.

When should I expect to see results?

Though you can expect to have a clear face in 8 to 12 weeks, many people see a dramatic difference in their acne within the first month of treatment. Pretty soon you won't even remember the embarrassment of having acne anymore.

What if my skin gets used to the products and it comes back?

We make adjustments to your treatment plan to make sure that your skin does not over-adapt to the home care products, pushing your skin to stay clear without irritating it or over-drying it.
